The Bay of Green Bay is a World Class Fishery for whitefish. These fish have been in Lake Michigan for hundreds of years and commercially fished to support families since settlers came to Door County in the 1850’s. Due to recent ecosystem changes, the Whitefish have changed food sources and now migrate to Green Bay and the waters around Sturgeon Bay during the Winter months. Fresh round goby lining the bottom of Green Bay and are the Whitefish’s new favorite food!

We use Ice fishing Jigging tactics on the bottom of the Bay around Door County to provide Great Ice Fishing Catches! Captain Jimmy focuses all his time in the Winter on staying on the best Whitefish bite. This leads Capt. Jimmy to only Guide for Door County Whitefish during the Ice Fishing season!

Captain Jimmy is a licensed Green Bay Whitefish fish guide in the winter months.

The Whitefish have no issue with their air-bladder and are able to burp when brought up from the deep water. This makes the Green Bay Whitefish easily releasable for customer interested in Catch and Release.
