The Door County Smallmouth Bass season is off to a great start. Guided trips are producing catches of 20 to 30 Bass, and most of the Smallies are over 3lbs! A lot of fish are still pre-spawn, especially in Areas North of Sturgeon Bay. The biggest fish are coming off beds in the back of the bays here in Sturgeon Bay. The males have started the Spawning process by cleaning the beds for the soon to follow females. Upcoming trips Should continue to produce big fish along with good numbers! Main tactics for the Smallies right now have been Jerk-Baits, Hair Jigs, Swimbaits, Dropshots,Tubes.
